16 Things You Can Count On “Basic Girls” To Do In The Fall

September 26, 2018

Last Friday officially marked the first day of fall, but let’s be honest, if you’re a “Basic Girl” you’ve been celebrating everything fall since September 1st. It doesn’t matter if it’s 95 degrees outside, you’re dedicated to your fall wardrobe and pumpkin spice lattes, even if you’re dripping sweat while consuming it.

We’ve waited 9 months for this, and now that we’ve experienced the September Equinox your spouses can no longer make fun of the past few weeks of prep you needed to do to be in the full swing of EVERYTHING fall. “Basic Girls” take this stuff seriously.

Starting with…

PSL’s A.K.A. Pumpkin Spice Lattes

Let’s be honest, if you haven’t already had about 5 of these, do you even really love fall? (I may or may not be at Starbucks with one in hand as I write this post – decaf of course.)

“Leaves” Pics

My husband and I drove up to Vail last weekend to witness the famous fall foliage in Colorado. Yes, I was mesmerized, but let’s be honest, I was there for the “fall photos.”

Fall Scented Candles

Just like PSLs, if you didn’t buy your fall scented candles at Bath and Body Works already, your home must smell like depression.

Take Pictures With Pumpkins

If you want to catch a “Basic Girl” place a pumpkin patch near your city. Those things are a photo magnet.

Boots/Booties

My feet may have been screaming to wear flip flops because of the heat, but I’m committed. Booties or bust.

Scarves

I’ve pulled down my boxes of scarves, and now that Denver has finally been in the 70’s I feel okay with wearing them, even though I always find an excuse to wear my “summer scarves.”

Plan Halloween Costume 60 Days In Advance

Halloween may still be a month away, but if you’re committed to everything fall, you already have an idea what you and your spouse or you and your friends will be this year.

Decorate With Pumpkins, Autumn Leaves and Hay on September 1st

The trees may still be green and thriving outside, but that doesn’t mean your décor will be. By the time September hits, we’re over it. I don’t care what outside looks like as long as my house looks like the freaking “Harvest Festival!”

Bake or Buy Anything With Pumpkin In It

I’ve already made “Pumpkin Spice Macaroons” and last night a “Pumpkin White Chili.” Next on the docket is “Pumpkin Bread.”

Buy Only “Fall” Colored Makeup

If your eye makeup collection doesn’t consist of burnt oranges, reds and browns it’s time to go shopping. Grab a maroon or dark purple lipstick while you’re at it.

Flannels

Whether it’s a flannel shirt or a flannel scarf it’s not fall without them.

Switch Hair To The “Ombre”

Nothing looks better with your fall wardrobe than hair that melts from one color to the other. Especially in pics…

Wear Sweaters Even Though It Will Be In The 80s By The Afternoon

You’ve just woken up and can feel that crisp autumn air blowing in from your window. It’s definitely time for a sweater you think. By the afternoon it’s now 85 degrees and your sweater has stretched a few sizes from the amount of sweat you’ve expelled. But who cares, you still look cozy. Own it.

Green, Maroon, Brown, Burnt Orange and Mustard Yellow

All of these colors are fall staples, and if you haven’t busted out any of these into your fall wardrobe in some way or fashion, I’m crying for you.

Transition Nail Colors

It’s a fine line in September if you can rock the summer pink nails for a few weeks, but the time will come where your nail selection should only consist of grays, muted purples, maroons and mauve.

Hocus Pocus

And finally, the “Basic Girl” confirmation of fall – watching Hocus Pocus. It doesn’t matter that it’s a Halloween movie, you remember watching it on Disney Channel and associate it with fall. It’s okay, if you watched it

This post made me smile the whole time I was reading it in spite of the fact that today is a dizzy day. Thank you.
